MANCHESTER UNITED and Inter Milan will reach an agreement with Alexis Sanchez today, according to reports in Italy.
The Chile international is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ready to let him leave.
Sanchez has been a major disappointment since his transfer from Arsenal in January 2018.
But Inter Milan are set to offer the 30-year-old an Old Trafford escape route after his dismal spell at the club.
Correiera Della Sera claims Sanchez will immediately leave for Milan on Wednesday with Inter and Manchester united on the brink of an agreement.
The reports claim the sticking point has been how much the Red Devils will contribute to the player’s astronomical wages.
Sanchez is the highest-paid star at United, earning a whopping £500,000-a-week.
They are desperate to offload the former Arsenal man but Inter Milan cannot afford to pay his wages in full.
United will instead offer to pay between £6.5million and £7.5m of his salary for a year-long loan spell in Serie A.
Inter would then have an option to buy Sanchez at the end of the season.
The forward scored just two goals for United in the last campaign and was criticised heavily by supporters for his performances.
Sanchez is now way down the pecking order at Old Trafford with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirming there is interest in him.
“Well, there’s still a couple of weeks left of the transfer window and there is a chance, some clubs have shown interest in Alexis, so we’ll see what happens,” said Solskjaer
“Can’t update you more than that.”
Sanchez has not been included in United’s squads for either of their opening Premier League fixtures against Chelsea and Wolves respectively.
And until his future is sorted out it is unlikely he will appear for the Red Devils.
United take on Crystal Palace next in the Premier League on Saturday (3pm).
